With her photos of women suffering from cancer Ms. Angelika Kampfer has attempted to encourage us to take a closer and prolonged look at each patient, she might even force us to do that. After several months of watching and interacting with these women she literally faces them to photograph them. The photos are void of any voyeurism. They reflect the aggressiveness of the disease, but also the hope and optimism of the patients. They create emotions. Emotions which might be unpleasant in the beginning but are likely to change into emphatic feelings thus granting us access to people who are so easily hurt.
